Don't install
a Lotus Notes server on a Novell Netware server
This is a a very used file server but also the worst support for a Notes server. Before 1996 and the wave of Windows95 and WindowsNT, the smartest OS choice was OS/2. Now the best choice is Windows95 or WindowsNT. This depends of how stable you wish the server core to be, because the *.exe code is the same.
Why not a Novell Netware server?
1. Even if a user didn't need to be logged in Netware to work on Notes, and you may install not an 10, 25 or more users licence server, only a Netware runtime, the difference between this (~1000$) and a Windows95 (~100$) is obvious.
2. Netware have not virtual memory, so for a "little" server on Windows95 you may run with 32MB of RAM fairly, but for Netware don't think at less than 64MB, and 96MB recommended.
3. Starting with 1997, the Netware releases of Notes software are from version to version longer later than the others, especially WindowsNT. This means for Lotus the Netware Servers are no longer so important.
